Melinda & Tom E-Session

Ahhhhh, Melinda and Tom. Such a sweet story. The were both young teenagers in high school. Fate would take them to the same location on this particular day. Where: A high school party. So how did fate bring them together? Well, the cops showed up to bust this party up! Everyone made like eggs a scrambled outta there (something like that you catch my drift). People were running and jumping. Jumping over a chain link fence. Everyone but poor Melinda, who got stuck on the fence. But not to worry; good ol' knight and shining armor Tom came to her rescue! Now they will live happily ever after. Sweet story right. :-)

So for the engagement session we went shot right across the street from Tom's high school. I had a great time checking out lighting situations all through the shoot while Melinda and Tom just forgot I was there. No, really they would forget I was there. All the better to capture them though. So enjoy some of my favs and the slideshow. I can't wait for your Wedding Day Melinda and Tom!!!

She's a Boston Red Sox Fan.  He is a New York Yankee Fan.  Since I am a Yankee Fan.  (Yeah that's right, Back off Eric Foley!)  I only thought it was more than fitting to get a Yankee style ring shot.

A rock on a rock ;-)

The very last leaf on the tree!

I love capturing hands especially with beautiful engagement/wedding rings :-)

My absolute FAVORITE of the session!

Isn't she gorgeous?!

Another thing I love is reflections.  Are you proud of me Carla? ;-)

Enjoy the show :-)  Music Credit: Jason Mraz - I'm Yours

Val McCormick Photography featured on ROCKTOGRAPHERS.COM

Recently I was absolutely honored to find out I was accepted as a founding member for Modern Photographers.com. Mark Erik creator of ModernPhotographers.com was the founding member for TrashTheDress.com and now some other incredible sites including Rocktographers.com.

On Christmas Eve I received such an AWESOME surprise! Some of my ring shots were featured on ROCKTOGRAPHERS.COM! Go check it out and leave some love :-)

I absolutely love the idea of this site as it's a wonderful resource for someone looking for a great photographer. Here are Mark Erik's words and I couldn't agree more:

Why Modern Photographers?
Have you ever noticed that photography is one of the rare industries that requires no licensing or certification? Just about anyone can pick up a camera and claim to be a photographer with absolutely no experience. Unfortunately, many couples and families have been harmed by the actions of some wreckless “photographers”.
Modern Photographers was created to give those looking for artistic professionals a place to connect with qualified working visual artists. Our members have been voted on by true professionals in the industry. We require our members to:
*Maintain a proper business license (pay taxes)
*Have backup equipment in case of equipment failure during an important shoot
*Maintain a good reputation in their local community, as well as within the photography industry
*Have solid technical skills (exposure, lighting, composition, post production)
*Have a creative eye that lends itself to a modern style
If you are looking for a photographer recommended by other photographers, look no further than Modern Photographers.

Thanks for your support and inspiration friends; you know who you are!

I am so excited about LOVE!

Love; Interpreted that is.  I feel so honored to be a part of this photography Art Show that my friend; the talented Nikki Nicole put together.  Myself and eight extraordinary women photographers from the New England area will be showcasing their works of art and our views on love.   Not only are these women extraordinary wedding photographers but amazing individuals.  I hope you can make it out and support us. Everyone is welcomed with open arms ;-)

Here is more information about the show:

A group of nine award-winning New England female photographers will display their photographs on the theme "Love: Interpreted" at the MAC 650 Artspace at 650 Main Street in Middletown, CT from December 5th to January 3rd, 2009. The opening reception on Friday, December 5 at 7:00pm is open to the public.

The "Love: Interpreted" theme was chosen because these women primarily photograph weddings, documenting the strong bonds they witness between couples and within families. "What we really do at weddings is interpret the moments of love, and with this show we wanted to get back to our art school roots, creating something creative and personal in the same theme," noted Nikki Rinaldi of Nikki Nicole Photography, who helped coordinate this event.

Artists exhibiting are: Jacklyn Greenberg, Jo Kaplan Lee, Mary Marantz, Val McCormick, Tina Parsadanov, Nikki Nicole Rinaldi, Krystal Prue, Jane Shauck, and Carla Ten Eyck.

Hope to see you there!

Melissa & Marty - Married - Lighthouse Point, New Haven, CT

When Jay Fleming of Fleming Portrait Design contacted me on helping him out with a family member's wedding at Lighthouse Point Park in New Haven I was more than honored.  It's difficult when your a guest and a photographer to enjoy yourself as the guest so to help ease the tension Laura Landau and I pitched in.

Melissa and Marty are such a great couple.  Marty should have actually been named Jack because he is literally a "Jack of all trades"  He and Melissa coordinated the wedding themselves!  What a beautiful job they did.

Being that there were two other photographers besides myself; gave me the flexible to play with my settings during the ceremony and spot meter for different areas to get such different outcomes with my images.  The sun was setting, the sky was gorgeous and there was so much love in the air.  Really there was........:-)  Enjoy

I love the sunset and love...what a great combination!!!

Check out the gorgeous details!!!!

What a beautiful moment!

As alway I had a difficult time choosing my favorite ring shot.  I would love to see who can figure where all these ring shots were taken.  Show me some blog love with an answer and I will announce and send out a prize to a lucky winner :-)

Thanks Jay for thinking of me to help you out with this :-)  Thanks Marty and Melissa and congratulations!
